sift

i swallowed the sun
at the nape of your neck

to save you from being hanged at midday.

go to the sea with its wordless singing

and from there
we will give up our tongues to the birds
and be sifted out from the sand

our lies heavy enough to sink to the bottom.

  1. I am so glad that I discovered your website and your poetry — “the wordless singing of the ocean.” Beautiful and true. The ocean does have a certain soothing rhythm to it — but lyrics are conspicuously missing. I will think about this the next time I am on the beach. I like the way you think.
